About Iration

Iration is an incredible reggae/pop group that was formed in Santa Barbara, California with members who all originally hailed from Hawaii. The band plays a mix of reggae, dub, pop, and rock music and are considered one of hte leading Sunshine reggae bands.

The band began in Isla Vista, a community connected to UC Santa BArbara. The band played reggae covers in college towns including Cal Poly SLO, Chico State, and UC Davis. During this early period, the band recorded their first EP, New Roots, in 2006 and built a reputation through their live performances. The band became a popular addition to the events in the region. So much so that The Santa Barbara Independent said of the band that, “There’s something to be said for any band that can capture the undivided attention of a crowd full of drunken Isla Vistans, especially when there are kegs to be tapped and cops to avoid. But roots reggae rockers Iration manage to ‘do it’ on a regular basis.”

Eventually, in 2007, the band recorded and released their first full-length album, Not Time for Rest, which topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The album was supported by the single “Cookie Jar” which reached #1 in Hawaii on 93.9 DaBeat and was featured on Fuel TV’s Triple Crown of Surfing recap.

The band continued to make waves over the next decade and a half. This led to several albums, the latest of which was announced on March 9, 2020. The album was set to be released and supported by the Coastin’ Summer Tour, which featured roots reggae artist Tribal Seeds. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band was forced to postpone the tour.
